Overview

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 may be its official name, but it could just as easily be called the Iconic 6. This all-electric marvel boasts a striking aerodynamic design and an impressive EPA-estimated range of up to 342 miles, making it truly noteworthy. Beyond its range, the Ioniq 6 offers a wealth of features while maintaining a competitive price. Sharing some components with its Ioniq 5 SUV sibling—both former EV of the Year award winners (the Ioniq 6 in 2023 and the Ioniq 5 in 2022)—it forges its own unique identity. The sedan’s bold styling does come with trade-offs, including limited cargo space and rear headroom, but it compensates with versatility, offering rear- or all-wheel drive and two battery pack options. Opting for the larger battery paired with the single-motor, rear-wheel-drive SE configuration achieves the attention-grabbing 342-mile EPA range. While real-world results may vary, the Ioniq 6 finds a harmonious balance of range, performance, charging speed, and affordability, with its modern design as a standout bonus.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

The Ioniq 6 shares its platform with the Ioniq 5 SUV and offers a similar range of powertrain options. The base model delivers 149 horsepower through a single electric motor driving the rear wheels. Models with the Long-Range battery pack and a single motor generate 225 horsepower. For those seeking more power and all-wheel drive, the 320-horsepower dual-motor version features front and rear electric motors and is exclusively paired with the larger battery. The Ioniq 6 combines a smooth ride with a quiet, well-insulated cabin while maintaining engaging handling dynamics. Its low center of gravity ensures a stable feel during cornering, and steering-wheel paddles let drivers adjust regenerative braking levels on the go.

Interior

The interior of the IONIQ 6 provides a roomy sanctuary, thoughtfully crafted with intuitive design and a wealth of features to deliver exceptional comfort and convenience.

0-60-MPH Times

So far, we’ve tested the RWD Long Range model, which accelerated to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, and the AWD Long Range version, which was significantly faster, reaching 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

The EPA estimates the 2025 Ioniq 6 RWD with the large battery can achieve a maximum range of 342 miles. Even the SEL RWD is rated at 291 miles, and the base RWD model delivers 240 miles, an impressive performance for the variant with the lowest range. In our 75-mph highway range test, the large battery RWD variant managed 260 miles—82 miles short of its EPA estimate. Meanwhile, the AWD model performed closer to its EPA rating, achieving a real-world range of 220 miles at the same speed.
